Shiffrin and Oakley Launch "$1 Million Share Winter" Initiative to Transform Youth Access
07/April/2026
Mikaela Shiffrin has never been content to let a milestone mean only something for herself. Now, coming off the most decorated season of an already unparalleled career, she and longtime partner Oakley are channeling that momentum into one of the most ambitious philanthropic efforts winter sports has ever seen.
Shiffrin has officially announced the expansion of her MIK100 initiative, partnering with the Share Winter Foundation and Oakley to launch the "GOAT Gives Back" event at Copper Mountain, Colorado. The initiative carries a $1 million fundraising goal aimed at increasing access to skiing and snowboarding for youth across the United States.
The announcement comes at a pivotal moment. Following her 100th World Cup victory, Shiffrin helped raise nearly $500,000 for Share Winter Foundation. Now, she is aiming higher
The center piece of the announcement is a private, invite-only event at Copper Mountain, where Shiffrin will host 40 young women from elevateHer, a Share Winter Foundation grantee. The program focuses on building confidence and resilience through outdoor sports. Shiffrin will spend the day skiing alongside these young participants, offering mentorship and sharing the joy of the sport that defined her career.
“This sport has given me so much—not only professionally, but personally,” Shiffrin said. “The ‘GOAT Gives Back’ event is about sharing that and creating more access for others. I’m really looking forward to getting on the mountain and playing a small part in investing in the futures of these young women.”
The initiative is backed by a powerhouse roster of industry partners. Oakley will support the event by providing technical gear for the participants, while Ikon Pass and Copper Mountain are contributing lift tickets, rentals, and equipment support.
To amplify the message, the initiative has partnered with TOGETHXR, the media platform co-founded by Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Sue Bird, and Simone Manuel. Participants will wear exclusive U.S. Ski & Snowboard x TOGETHXR apparel featuring the viral slogan “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports™,” highlighting the growing influence of female athletes in driving social impact.
Share Winter CEO Constance Beverley emphasized that the initiative represents more than just a donation; it is a critical investment in the sport's future diversity.
“This moment raises the bar in a meaningful way,” said Beverley. “It takes real investment to grow participation, and this initiative is helping make that possible. Having Mikaela and Oakley lead the charge shows the next generation that there is a place for them on the snow.”
This fundraising push follows Shiffrin’s successful "MIK100" campaign earlier in the season, which raised nearly $500,000 for youth programs following her 100th victory. With the 2025-26 season concluded, Shiffrin’s focus has shifted from the podium to the "GOAT Gives Back" mission, ensuring her legacy includes opening doors for those who might otherwise never have the chance to clip into a pair of skis.
Shiffrin made clear why the event speaks to something larger than skiing. "I'm really looking forward to getting on the mountain and playing a small part in investing in the futures of these young women," she said. "This sport has given me so much — not only professionally, but personally. This event is about sharing that and creating more access for others."
Oakley's involvement goes well beyond lending its name. The eyewear and sports equipment giant will provide goggles for each participant and help deliver the on-mountain experience. The partnership reflects a bond that has grown considerably in recent months, with Oakley celebrating Shiffrin's Olympic gold with a special-edition package engraved: "Cheers to the embodiment of what is possible."
The broader coalition of support is equally impressive. Ikon Pass and Copper Mountain will contribute lift tickets, rentals, and equipment support. The event will also be documented and amplified by TOGETHXR, a leading women's sports media platform, with each participant receiving a U.S. Ski & Snowboard x TOGETHXR crewneck featuring the slogan "Everyone Watches Women's Sports™.
The initiative's $1 million target is rooted in a simple but striking number. It costs approximately $500 to support one child for a full season on snow, according to Share Winter Foundation. Reaching the goal would allow thousands of young athletes to access skiing and snowboarding — many for the first time.
Copper Mountain's leadership was unequivocal about who makes this work. "There is no one more inspiring for young athletes than Mikaela," said Dustin Lyman, president and general manager of Copper Mountain. "We are committed to expanding access and creating opportunities for more young people to experience the sport."
Share Winter Foundation CEO Constance Beverley summed up the significance of the moment. "This moment raises the bar in a meaningful way," she said. Beverley has long maintained that Shiffrin's greatness cannot be measured by results alone. "It's not the win that makes her the best," Beverley has said. "It's her understanding of what the win could mean — a chance to reset what's possible for everyone in our sport."
Shiffrin's competitive résumé is unmatched — 110 World Cup victories, 168 podiums, eight world titles, six Overall globes, and three Olympic gold medals. She remains the only skier in history to win across all six alpine disciplines.
But her off-mountain legacy has been built with equal intention. She co-founded the Jeff Shiffrin Athlete Resiliency Fund, in partnership with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, in honor of her late father Jeff. The fund has raised more than $3.7 million to help cover expenses for fellow U.S. Ski Team athletes.
Through Share Winter Foundation, Shiffrin is now targeting the gap at the very entry point of the sport — helping fund programs that introduce young athletes to skiing and snowboarding and keep them progressing.
When asked about legacy, Shiffrin has been consistent in her answer. "If I simplify it," she has said, "'legacy' is about how we impact the people and world around us and the way we choose to exist in the landscape of all the things we love to do."
