Hinterglemm To Install New Reiterkogel cable car

Starting in the 2026/27 winter season, guests can look forward to significantly more comfort, quality, and flow. The existing lift, built in 1997, will be replaced by a state-of-the-art 10-person gondola lift from Doppelmayr.

Facts:

  • Plant type: 10 EUB - Company Doppelmayr

  • Construction start: April 2026

  • Completion: November 2026

  • Transport capacity: 2,500 people per hour

  • Slant length: 2,111 m

  • Speed: 6 m/sec

  • Elevation difference: 669 m

  • Travel time: 8.61 min

  • Number of cabins: 71

The D1 Reiterkogel cable car is being modernized. The major highlight: the new second section. In the future, it will take guests directly to the summit of the Reiterkogel – and at the same time create direct access from the center of Hinterglemm right into the heart of the mountain experience.

Spacious cabins and barrier-free access ensure that everyone feels comfortable here – from families and bikers to winter sports enthusiasts. Large photovoltaic systems are also planned for the open areas of the stations, which will supply the cable car with green, self-generated electricity.

“ After two intense years, we will begin construction of the Reiterkogelbahn cable car on April 7th – the first cable car we have the privilege of building in our role as managing directors. For Wolfgang Gensbichler and me, this project is therefore something very special – full of passion, characterized by many learning experiences and great team spirit. We are proud and grateful that our vision is now becoming a reality thanks to our shareholders, employees, and landowners, ” said Managing Director Manuel Hirner.

The investment clearly shows where the journey is headed: towards the future – comfortable, family-friendly and at the highest level.

During the construction phase, the mountain experience in Hinterglemm remains varied: The summer offerings move to the Hochalm and bring a breath of fresh air with new attractions.

For fun and adventure, Kodok, the guardian of the Reiterkogel mountain, will be there, temporarily relocating to the Hochalm for the summer season. An educational trail is being created around the Hochalm reservoir, where he will explain the most important functions of the mountain railway to visitors of all ages. Guided hikes, the OKIDOKI children's festival on July 24th, and an outdoor fitness area offer additional fun, exercise, and variety for young and old.

In short: The Hochalm is developing into a versatile adventure mountain this summer – while the Reiterkogel is being reborn.
