Salomon Steps onto the Triathlon Stage in Landmark Global Deal with The Ironman Group
24/September/2026
French sporting goods giant Salomon has inked a five-year global partnership with The Ironman Group, marking a major strategic shift as the mountain-born brand marches onto the asphalt of long-distance triathlon.
Beginning in 2027 and running through 2031, Salomon will serve as the Global Premier Partner of the Ironman race series. The landmark agreement grants the Annecy-based manufacturer exclusive rights across performance footwear, apparel, and technical bags throughout the global Ironman ecosystem. Highlighting the deal, Salomon will also assume the role of Title Partner for the prestigious 2027 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
Redefining the Modern Endurance Lifestyle
Traditionally recognized for its dominant presence in trail running, cross-country skiing, and mountain sports, Salomon’s expansion into triathlon underscores a growing shift in consumer behavior: endurance as a lifestyle rather than a single discipline.
"Today, athletes no longer define themselves by a single sport. They run on the road, compete in mountain races, participate in triathlons, and are constantly seeking new challenges. Endurance has become a lifestyle."
— Guillaume Meyzenq, President of Salomon
Scott DeRue, CEO of The Ironman Group, echoed this alignment, noting that the shared focus on human potential, product innovation, and community makes Salomon a natural fit to outfit triathletes as they tackle multi-sport challenges.
Product Innovation and Human Performance
Beyond outfitting participants at selected events across North America and Europe, the multi-year deal establishes a collaborative framework centered on product development and human performance:
The Salomon Run Course: Across designated Ironman events, Salomon will take ownership of the final discipline, branding the leg as the official "Salomon Run Course".
Athlete-Driven R&D: Salomon is partnering with elite long-distance triathletes—including reigning world champion Casper Stornes, Marjolaine Pierré, and Julie Iemmolo—to gather real-time feedback on running after hours of grueling swim and bike legs.
Human Performance Insights: The company will leverage its dedicated Performance Program, led by sports scientist Aitor Viribay, to research biomechanics, nutrition, and recovery tailored to multi-sport demands.
The Road to Kona
While the formal premier partnership takes effect in 2027, Salomon’s activation begins ahead of schedule. The brand will host an experiential pop-up booth at Kona Heaven on October 7–8 during the 2026 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, offering athletes and fans an early glimpse of its triathlon-focused gear and performance innovations.
