Valle Nevado Extends Ski Season to Nov. 8, Marking Longest Season in Resort History
09/October/2026
Valle Nevado will extend skiing and snowboarding through Nov. 8 following an October storm that delivered 42.5 inches, or over 3.5 feet of snow in 48 hours, setting up the longest ski season in the resort’s 38-year history.
The extension will give Valle Nevado a 143-day season, from its June 19 opening through Nov. 8. The resort had originally planned to close Oct. 18.
The latest storm brings Valle Nevado’s 2026 season snowfall total to 271.7 inches, or nearly 23 feet, well above the 230 inches the resort typically receives in a winter. The combination of late-season snowfall, Valle Nevado’s 9,925-foot elevation and south-facing terrain has helped maintain strong snow coverage well into the Southern Hemisphere spring.
“This has been an extraordinary season for Valle Nevado, and receiving more than three and a half feet of snow in October is an incredible way to keep it going,” said Dominique Rudloff, general manager of Valle Nevado. “We opened on June 19, and operating through November 8 will give us 143 days of skiing. It is unprecedented for Valle Nevado to remain open this late in the year.”
The extended season caps an unusually strong winter for Valle Nevado, which also celebrated the debut of Aconcagua Ski Residences, a new slopeside lodging experience combining the space and flexibility of condominium-style accommodations with hotel services.
Late-season operations through Nov. 8 will be geared toward day visitors, as Valle Nevado’s hotels have closed for the season. Skier services at Plaza La Góndola, including rentals, lockers, ticketing, guest services, retail and the clinic, will remain available. Select restaurants and services will also continue operating.
The Gondola, Andes Express, Prado, Candonga and Vaivén lifts are expected to operate, subject to mountain and weather conditions. Guests should check Valle Nevado’s daily Mountain Report before traveling to the resort.
Guests who have already purchased a 2027 Valle Nevado Season Pass may begin using it during the extended 2026 season.
The Nov. 8 closing date will bring a nearly five-month ski season to Valle Nevado, extending lift-served skiing in the Chilean Andes into November as ski areas across North America prepare for the start of their own winter seasons.
