Steamboat Expands Winter 2026/27 Experiences for Skiers and Riders of All Abilities
30/October/2026
Steamboat Ski Resort is proud to announce a series of returning products, expanded services, and new experiences for guests of all ability levels for the 2026/27 season.
Learn to Ski and Grow Confidence at Steamboat
Guests and community members are encouraged to begin their ski journey with Steamboat’s expanded offerings and most approachable terrain options.
Kids Ski Free Promotion Extended
Kids 12 and under have always had the opportunity to ski and rent for free at Steamboat with an adult purchase of 5 days or more, but this season kids can ski free from November 21 through December 15 with no purchase required. During that time, parents may visit the ticket office or shop online to redeem a free lift ticket for children ages 12 and under, along with the option to purchase discounted rentals and lessons. To learn more about the promotion and Steamboat’s season long kids ski free offerings, visit steamboat.com.
No Lift Ticket Required, Public Carpet
Locals and visitors looking for an introduction to the sport will have free access to the Buckaroo Carpet, located on snow near the Steamboat Gondola and adjacent to the Creekside Locker Room. The carpet is available to all guests during operating hours from noon to 4 p.m daily. First-time participants must complete a waiver before their initial use of the carpet. For guests ages 3 and under, free ski and snowboard rentals are available daily at Steamboat Sports in Steamboat Square. Equipment pickup is available after 11 a.m. for use on the carpet. All equipment must be returned to Steamboat Sports in Steamboat Square by 4 p.m.
Barrow’s Bend: New Green Run in Sunshine Area
Steamboat is adding a new green trail, connecting Rendezvous Lodge to Sunshine Peak Lift. Named Barrow’s Bend, the trail honors the late Steamboat legend and Olympian Moose Barrows. While the new trail does not increase Steamboat’s skiable acreage, it brings the Resort’s total trail count to 184.
Advanced Skier and Rider Experiences
For those ready to take the next step and challenge themselves, these advanced experiences will help guests take their skills to new heights.
Continued Athlete Development with Maverick’s Halfpipe Resurfacing
New for Winter 2026/27, Steamboat is repurposing excavated material from the Stockman Hotel project to raise the base of Maverick’s Halfpipe, located in Bashor Bowl. The soil repurposing is expected to reduce the amount of snowmaking and natural snow required to build the halfpipe by 40%-60%, allowing the facility to open earlier in the season.
Prepare for Adventure with a Heli-Ready Guided Experience
New this winter, guests looking to expand their skills and prepare for an iconic mountain adventure can participate in Steamboat’s Heli-Ready Guided Experience. This program helps guests develop the skills, confidence, and mountain readiness needed to explore terrain similar to that found at Ikon Pass heli-skiing destinations, CMH or Mike Wiegele, while receiving personalized instruction and feedback throughout the day. Full-day experiences are available for groups of up to five people and are designed for advanced skiers and riders looking to progress their abilities.
