Palisades Tahoe Introduces Beginner Progression Pass, Opening the Door to a Full Season on the Mountain

Palisades Tahoe is making it easier for first-time skiers and snowboarders to turn their first day on snow into an entire season on the mountain with the new Beginner Progression Pass. For $799, the program combines three professionally guided group lessons, lift access, rental equipment and additional benefits, culminating in a complimentary unrestricted Palisades Tahoe season pass after participants complete all three lessons.

Learning to ski or snowboard comes with a unique set of barriers. New participants need equipment, access to the mountain and the technical skills to navigate the sport safely and confidently. The Beginner Progression Pass brings those pieces together into one program designed specifically for first-time skiers and riders ages 13 and older.

“Learning to ski or snowboard can feel intimidating when you’re starting from scratch, and the Beginner Progression Pass is designed to make those first steps as simple and approachable as possible,” said El Furtney, Director of Mountain Sports School for Palisades Tahoe. “It’s about more than getting someone through their first lesson. We want to share the joy of being in the mountains, connecting through sport, and sliding on snow, while also helping new skiers and riders build their skills and confidence. After their third lesson, they'll have the rest of the season to continue to progress, explore the mountain, and hopefully become lifelong skiers and riders.”

The program guides participants through three stages of progression. The first lesson focuses on establishing a strong foundation on beginner terrain with a professional instructor. During the second and third lessons, participants continue developing their skills and confidence, with opportunities to access terrain beyond the beginner area as they progress.

Each Beginner Progression Pass includes:

  • Three group ski or snowboard lessons

  • Lift access for all three lesson days

  • Rental equipment for all three lesson days

  • A complimentary pair of goggles

  • A retail discount

  • A complimentary unrestricted Palisades Tahoe season pass for the remainder of the 2026/27 season after completing all three lessons

  • 30% off Alpine Unlimited after graduation, offering unlimited half-day lessons any day of the season

  • 50% off eligible group lessons after graduation

  • 50% off rentals after graduation

  • An Ikon Pass discount for the following season after graduation

By extending benefits beyond the initial three lessons, the program is designed to give new skiers and riders a pathway to continue practicing throughout the winter rather than ending their experience after a traditional introductory lesson.

The Beginner Progression Pass is available online now in limited quantities.
