Jean-Philippe Rochat is standing for re-election to the FIS Council for another two-year term. Swiss-Ski is proposing the Vaud native for re-election at the 57th FIS Congress on June 10th and 11th in Belgrade.
Jean-Philippe Rochat has been a member of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation's (FIS) top strategic governing body since 2024, when he was elected in Reykjavik with the third-best result. Now, Swiss-Ski has nominated the 68-year-old from Vaud again for a seat on the 22-member Council.
“Jean-Philippe Rochat enjoys a high reputation in the world of snow sports,” says Swiss-Ski President Peter Barandun. “He enriches the FIS Council enormously with his diverse expertise and his inclusive, strong personality. His work is of immense value to both the FIS and Swiss-Ski, which is why we are delighted about his candidacy.”
Jean-Philippe Rochat says: “The two years I have served on the FIS Council have made it clear how much work still needs to be done to strengthen the FIS's efficiency, improve its governance, increase transparency, and expand cooperation with the national member federations. These efforts must be continued and intensified if we want to elevate the FIS to the level it deserves among international sports federations. Our athletes, from Olympic champions to the youngest up-and-coming talents, deserve a world federation that dedicates all its energy to advancing their sports to the best of its ability. That must be our guiding principle, and I want to continue contributing to it as a Council member.”
Jean-Philippe Rochat was Vice President of Swiss-Ski from 2004 to 2016 and has always remained closely connected to sports in general and snow sports in particular. He works for the renowned law firm Kellerhals Carrard. Sports law is one of Rochat's areas of expertise. From 1994 to 1999, he served as Secretary General of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“My fascination with snow sports in all its facets remains unbroken,” says Jean-Philippe Rochat. “It would be an honor for me to continue contributing my expertise to the FIS Council in order to successfully meet the challenges ahead.”
