municipality of Engelberg is increasing its stake in the Titlis cable cars.
31/May/2026
The municipality of Engelberg was offered 4,250 shares of Bergbahnen EngelbergTrübsee-Titlis AG (BET) for purchase. The municipal council decided to seize the opportunity and acquire the aforementioned BET shares. BET AG is the largest tourism provider in the valley and of great importance to the Engelberg economy. The municipal council is therefore very interested in strengthening the municipality's stake. The shares were purchased for a total of CHF 212,500.00.
Based on the principles of the Obwalden Cantonal Financial Management Act, the BET shares are recorded in the municipal balance sheet as an investment in the financial assets. These are assets that can be sold again without impairing the fulfillment of public duties. Therefore, the decision-making authority regarding this matter lies with the municipal council.
