With the groundbreaking ceremony for the Wiler–Weissenried project, construction begins on a new access route for the previously isolated village of Weissenried. Bartholet Ropeways AG, based in Flums, is responsible for the planning, system design, and implementation. The facility will be completed in just nine months and is scheduled to provide year-round access between Wiler and Weissenried from mid-December 2026.

The new connection is a key infrastructural step for Blatten. In alpine terrain and under challenging conditions, a solution is being created that is designed for high operational reliability and availability. It ensures both passenger transport and logistical operations, and guarantees basic services and access for emergency services to Blatten during the concurrent construction of the new cantonal road.

Bartholet's RopeTwin system is being used – a modular platform for complex application scenarios. It is based on standardized, proven components that can be adapted to specific projects. This allows for a combination of high technical reliability and efficient implementation. "RopeTwin is a field-tested solution for complex situations. Standardized components, adapted to specific projects, enable both quality and efficiency," says CEO Markus Menzi.

Fast construction time, high ease of maintenance, minimal structural interventions

The compact design reduces environmental impact and accelerates implementation, even in challenging topographical conditions. At the same time, the system ensures ease of maintenance and low operating costs throughout its entire lifecycle. Designed for maximum availability, the system enables efficient maintenance – a crucial requirement for stable infrastructure in remote locations.

As a Swiss manufacturer, Bartholet realizes a significant portion of its added value domestically. Development, engineering, and centralized production all take place in Switzerland, enabling short decision-making processes, high flexibility, and consistent quality control. The company is supported by the industrial strength of the HTI Group. Its companies, including Prinoth, were already involved in the Blatten landslide response with specialized vehicles.

A panoramic cabin designed by Studio FA Porsche is used for transport. It offers space for up to eight people and is suitable for both passenger and material transport.

"The Blatten project demonstrates what Bartholet stands for: the reliable and safe implementation of demanding infrastructure projects in a short timeframe. The realization in just nine months is the result of systems thinking, experience, and Swiss value creation," says Markus Menzi.
