40th Lift Operator Race at Galsterberg Has Record number of participants

The traditional lift operator race for the cable car employees of the Schladming-Dachstein ski region took place on the Vorderkar slope (No. 10) on the Galsterberg – this year for the 40th time. The anniversary race was all about sporting ambition, team spirit and camaraderie.

A new record was set with 149 participants. The women put on a particularly strong showing: six all-female teams competed. "Die Schneeraketen" (Nadine Schütter, Anna Keinprecht, Birgit Walcher, Sandra Schrempf) from the Planai-Hochwurzen cable cars took the victory in the women's team competition. In the men's competition, Mario Sieder, also from the Planai-Hochwurzen cable cars, secured the fastest time of the day, while Verena Weissenbacher from Reiteralm triumphed in the women's competition. A total of 34 teams participated in the event. The overall team title went to the "Planai Yetis" team (Mario Sieder, Thomas Pitzer, Peter Weichbold, Manuel Wöhrer).

Peter Weichbold, Managing Director of the Planai-Hochwurzen cable cars and the Galsterberg, was delighted: “I am particularly pleased that we were able to welcome more participants this year than ever before. The lift operator race has long been more than just a sporting competition – it brings our colleagues from the entire region together. A big thank you to the team at Galsterberg for the perfect organization.”

The awards ceremony and subsequent prize draw took place at the Happy Alm. The band "Milchkannen Express" provided excellent entertainment at the after-race party.
