Wagrain-Kleinarl Becomes the New “Home of Snowboarding” as WSF Relocates

The World Snowboard Federation (WSF) is relocating its headquarters to Wagrain-Kleinarl in Salzburg, Austria. This marks the beginning of a long-term partnership that uniquely combines sport, tourism, and alpine lifestyle. There are strong reasons why Wagrain-Kleinarl is now officially becoming the “Home of Snowboarding.”

Founded in 2002, the WSF is the global governing body for grassroots and amateur snowboarding. With its new headquarters, the federation moves to one of the most versatile winter sports regions in the Alps, known for outstanding conditions throughout the entire season: modern lift facilities, high snow reliability, innovative snowmaking systems, and an exceptionally broad range of winter sports offerings. Wagrain-Kleinarl brings together everything leading winter destinations aspire to provide.

A key flagship of the region’s winter sports portfolio is the Absolut Park, one of the world’s leading snow parks and a major hotspot of the international freestyle scene. Elite events such as the Spring Battle and the Jib King attract top riders from around the globe each year. Numerous national teams already use the facilities as a training base.

With the introduction of its new global slogan, “Home of Snowboarding,” starting in February 2026, the WSF further reinforces this commitment. Together, the partners will carry the message to the world: this is where the heart of snowboarding beats, where snowboard culture is truly lived - and where guests experience winter sports in all its diversity. WSF President Reto Lamm emphasizes: “With Wagrain-Kleinarl, the World Snowboard Federation gains not only a new headquarters, but a strong sporting environment with international appeal. The region embodies snowboarding in all its facets, from grassroots development to world-class performance. This close connection to the community, to training opportunities, and to innovative event formats provides ideal conditions for the continued development of our sport.”

Stefan Passrugger, Tourism Director of Wagrain-Kleinarl, adds: “The decision of the World Snowboard Federation to establish its headquarters in Wagrain-Kleinarl is a strong endorsement of our region as a world-class winter sports destination. With Absolut Park, our first-class infrastructure, and a passionate snowboard community, we offer the perfect home for an international federation. This partnership gives us the opportunity to position Wagrain-Kleinarl even more strongly on the global stage as what it already is: a place where snowboard culture is not only celebrated, but truly at home.”

The partnership is designed for a minimum of five years. Wagrain-Kleinarl will provide modern office and infrastructure solutions, creating the foundation for close cooperation between the international federation and the tourism destination. The collaboration will also include numerous joint projects - from national and international snowboard competitions to congresses, training programs, annual assemblies, and additional sporting and tourism initiatives. Implementation will begin following final approvals by the respective governing bodies, with the official relocation subject to regulatory authorization.

With this step, Wagrain-Kleinarl clearly positions itself as a global hub of snowboarding. The partnership with the World Snowboard Federation represents a flagship project for alpine winter tourism, uniting elite sport, youth development, and unforgettable winter experiences. The WSF looks forward to being close to the community, close to the mountains, and close to one of the world’s leading snowparks - in the new “Home of Snowboarding,” Wagrain-Kleinarl.
