Sara Hector and Gustaf Lindqvist Swedish giant slalom champions, Moa Boström Müssener and Fabian slalom champions

The Swedish Giant Slalom Championship was decided in a spring-like Klövsjö with the entire Swedish elite and upcoming stars in place in the sun. The course started in the snow park up on the mountain and then folded down into the Steilhang steep and the course offered everything from ski-cross-like rollers, long sliding sections to one of the toughest steeps in Swedish competition. Sara Hector, Kungsberget Alpine Club was able to enter as the winner and Swedish champion among the women after a second place in run one. On the men's side, it was Gustav Lindqvist, Sundsvall's slalom club who took the Swedish Championship gold in giant slalom 2026.

Sollentuna Slalom Club was the organizer of this year's Swedish championships in giant slalom and slalom in Klövsjö. In the first run of the giant slalom, Liza Backlund, Sundsvall Slalom Club was the fastest, after really putting everything into it and challenging the long and tough slope, she was 15 hundredths ahead of Hector at the finish. In third place, Sophie Nyberg, Åre Slalom Club also had a strong run with her successful World Cup premiere in Åre fresh in her memory. But in the second run, Sara Hector showed her routine to the younger skiers and was able to climb to first place while Sophie took the silver and Liza the bronze medal. Reigning champion Hanna Aronsson Elfman, Kils Slalom Club was defeated this year and landed a paltry four hundredths outside the podium.

"It's great fun to take home a Swedish Championship gold medal, I actually haven't had many like that before. It was a great day in Klövsjö with fair conditions for all the girls who competed, says Sara Hector about her victory."

For the men's competition, the snow had softened somewhat in the sun and conditions were somewhat more difficult for several of those who were skiing with high start numbers. In the lead after the first run was Fabian Ax Swartz, Lidingö Slalom Club, who had an upward curve during the winter World Cup series. Gustaf Lindqvist, Sundsvall Slalom Club, who had won the Norwegian giant slalom championship the other day, was chasing just two hundredths of a second behind. Two more Sundsvall skiers, Lucas Kongsholm and Emil Nyberg, were in the close battle before the second run. In the second run, Gustaf Lindqvist threw himself around the podium with a powerful run where he tackled the slope in an extremely strong way and left his competitors more than two seconds behind him when he took the Swedish Championship gold. The silver went to his clubmate from Sundsvall, Emil Nyberg, who also had a technically clean run on the difficult slope. Fabian Ax Swartz lost a couple of places but still took home the bronze.

The Alpine Championship continued the weekend in Klövsjö with the slalom on Saturday. After the big favorite Anna Swenn Larsson, who was fastest by almost 1.5 seconds in the first run, crashed out in the second, Moa Boström Müssener from Uppsala Slalom Club was able to take home the SM gold medal ahead of Moa Landström, Västerås Slalom Club in silver and Hanna Aronsson Elfman, Kil Slalom Club who grabbed the bronze. On the men's side, Gustav Wissting, Lycksele IF took control of the slalom with a fast first run. In the second run, however, he was overtaken by Fabian Ax Swartz, IFK Lidingö Slalom Club who, after a strong second run, was crowned Swedish slalom champion. Wissting had to settle for the silver and home rider Philip Jonsson, Klövsjö Alpina climbed into bronze.

The surface of the competition hill Svartåshanget in Klövsjö was quite difficult to ski in the first run as it had not frozen over enough during the night to become really hard, and at the same time the morning sun had not had time to warm it up enough to enable salting. By the second run the sun had warmed the snow and the organizers were able to salt to harden the surface. Despite the challenges with the snow, fair competitions could be held, thanks to the hard work of all the volunteer officials from the organizing club Sollentuna Slalomklubb.

Gold favorite Anna Swenn Larsson, Rättvik's slalom club put hard pressure on the starting field in the first run, but in the second run her outer ski unexpectedly came off in one of the turns and she didn't have time to save the run. Instead, it was the reigning Swedish National Champion in slalom, Moa Boström Müssener who was able to defend her Swedish National Champion gold from last year through two solid runs under quite difficult conditions and thereby secure the championship title again this year.

Moa Landström comes second, it is her first individual medal in slalom at the Swedish Championships.

"Great for Moa Boström Müssener that she is doing so well today and can defend her title from last year. Moa Landström has taken a big step in her development this winter with several advanced placements at the European Cup which shows that she has a high top level. Both Landström and Boström Müssener had a chance of the top 3 in the overall at the European Cup so there could have been more placements this winter. Ending the season with SM medals is good for both of them to take into the preparation for next season, says Anders Andersson, head coach of the women's European Cup team."

Among the men, the competition developed into an exciting battle between the two favorites Gustav Wissting and Fabian Ax Swartz, both of whom had international results during the winter. In addition to them, Klövsjö's own skater Philip Jonsson excelled, showing great capacity on home soil and getting good skating on the challenging surface, which stirred up a stir among the previously stronger skaters in the starting field.

The team gold medal in the women's slalom went to Åre Slalom Club and the skiers Sophie Nyberg, Madeleine Björkholm and Filippa Hedström. No other clubs had entire teams cross the finish line.

On the men's side, it was Sundsvall's slalom club that took the team gold medal. Their team 1 with Emil Nyberg, Lucas Kongsholm and Gustaf Lindqvist won the team gold medal, while team 2 with the riders Edvin Hägglund, Maximilian Aicher and Filip Malker took the silver medal. No other clubs had entire teams that crossed the finish line.
