Pats Peak Announces Major Snowmaking Expansion For 2026–2027 SEASON
02/March/2026
Pats Peak announces a major snowmaking expansion project scheduled for summer 2026, positioning the ski area for its most powerful and efficient snowmaking season yet in 2026–2027.
As part of a master plan nearly 20 years in the making, the project represents one of the most ambitious capital improvements in the mountain’s history. Over the past five-plus years alone, Pats Peak has invested nearly $10 million in enhancements, including a lodge expansion, a state-of-the-art mountain operations building, and the new Hurricane Quad. This latest investment continues that long-term commitment to improving the guest experience.
The summer 2026 snowmaking upgrade will include:
Construction of a 21-million-gallon water supply reservoir dedicated exclusively to snowmaking
An additional 3,000 gallons per minute of pumping capacity, bringing total capacity to nearly 8,000 gallons per minute
Tripling electrical capacity to the summit to allow more fan guns to operate simultaneously
Increasing operating snowguns from 100 to more than 200 at one time
Together, these improvements will cut in half the time it takes to bring the mountain to 100% terrain open. Pats Peak is already consistently one of the first ski areas in the region to reach full operation each season; this project will further cement that reputation and give the mountain one of the highest pumping capacities per acre in New England.
“As a family-owned ski area, we take pride in continually reinvesting in the mountain,” said Kris Blomback, General Manager of Pats Peak. “This project allows us to open faster, operate more efficiently, and deliver the reliable snow conditions our guests count on, no matter what New England weather brings.”
Owned by the Patenaude family since 1963, Pats Peak remains one of the last family-owned ski areas in New England. The mountain’s “Near and Neighborly” philosophy reflects its commitment to community, stewardship, and providing a dependable, high-quality snow experience for generations of skiers and riders.
With this transformative snowmaking expansion, Pats Peak is not just preparing for the 2026–2027 season, it is strengthening its ability to deliver consistent, weather-resilient conditions for years to come.
