Kyrgyzstan's OJSC Ala-Too Resort signs new contract with Doppelmayr

OJSC “Ala-Too Resort” and Doppelmayr have signed a contract for the construction of four additional cable cars in the Zhyrgalan ski resort. The document was signed by Valery Yashin, Head of Doppelmayr’s Russia & CIS Division, and Zharkynbek Maksutov, Chairman of the Board of OJSC “Ala-Too Resort”.

The new contract represents the continuation of a large-scale project to develop a modern ski resort in the Issyk-Kul region. Under the initial agreement, signed last year, construction of two main cable cars is already underway, with their commissioning scheduled for May of this year.

According to the signed document, four more cable cars will be built in Zhyrgalan by the end of the year. This will increase the total length of the cable car lines to over 8 kilometers by December, while the total length of the ski slopes will reach 46 kilometers.

First phase of resort development

As Valery Yashin noted, last year's contract marked the start of the large-scale construction of the new resort. During this period, in addition to the implementation of infrastructure projects, a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Zhyrgalan was also drawn up.

The master plan defines the first project phase, which includes not only the cable cars but also the entire supporting infrastructure.

This year, in addition to the construction of the ski lifts, extensive work will be carried out on the mountain to create a fully-fledged service complex. The aim is for tourists to receive a level of service by December that is comparable to leading ski destinations worldwide.

Modern technologies and international experience

According to company representatives, the equipment installed at the resort represents some of the most advanced solutions in the industry. Doppelmayr carries out projects in 96 countries worldwide, and a resort of this size in Kyrgyzstan will be the company's first project of this scale in the republic.

Special attention is paid not only to the quality of the lifts, but also to the entire resort infrastructure, which is developed in accordance with high international standards.

Construction in high mountains

Despite the challenging mountain terrain and climatic conditions, the contractor is confident of meeting the deadlines. Around 60% of the company's projects are implemented in high-altitude regions. Doppelmayr's portfolio includes the construction of cable cars at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters above sea level.

The company emphasizes its extensive experience working in winter conditions, including constructing technology corridors and delivering equipment to snow-covered areas. Construction in Jyrgalan is progressing rapidly, and the project is ahead of schedule in several areas.

The first lifts are scheduled to be put into operation by the end of May, and the entire first project phase is expected to be completed by December of this year.
