Carezza Dolomites is investing in the future of the ski resort
23/March/2026
The Carezza Dolomites ski resort is setting the course for long-term sustainable development. With the planned expansion of the existing Frin reservoir, the ski lifts are responding to the challenges of climate change and creating the conditions for energy-efficient and flexible snowmaking.
The increased storage capacity will allow for optimal use of cold weather windows in the future. For skiers, this means continued high-quality slopes from the beginning of December to the end of March. At the same time, the water demand throughout the winter remains unchanged. The reservoir will be filled gradually and resource-efficiently throughout the year using already approved overflow from streams. Working together with the relevant regional authorities, the project is being developed in the best possible way and further refined in accordance with all technical requirements. Securing
the future of the ski resort is a joint project of the six lift companies in the Carezza Dolomites Lifts Consortium. The goal is to ensure the long-term viability of skiing for locals and visitors alike and to strengthen regional economic activity. As the largest employer in the region below the Rosengarten mountain, the companies of the consortium directly and indirectly generate annual added value of around €100 million and secure approximately 800 year-round jobs.
The project has already been presented to the municipal council - the project was also presented to the residents of Welschnofen at an information event.
