New Leadership Elected to Ski and Snowboard India
03/June/2026
In a major step toward structural stability and sporting growth, Ski and Snowboard India (SSI) has officially ushered in a new leadership era. Following a court-supervised, democratic election process, Tanveer Singh Bajwa has been elected as the federation's new President, alongside Mohammad Arshad, who will take over the crucial role of Secretary General.
The elections were conducted under the strict supervision of a designated Election Officer, ensuring full compliance with directives issued by the Delhi High Court. This milestone puts an end to a period of administrative uncertainty for the national governing body, transitioning it out of the temporary governance of an ad-hoc committee and back into an elected, independent executive structure.
According to an official statement released by SSI, the electoral process was carried out with total transparency, successfully engaging all qualified federation stakeholders and state units from across the country.
A Vision for Winter Sports in India
The newly formed Executive Council steps into office with a clear mandate: to modernize the administration of winter sports in India and significantly enhance the pathway for competitive winter athletes.
With the next Winter Olympics cycle fast approaching, the leadership team highlighted several core areas of focus:
Expanded Athlete Support: Creating structured, fully funded development pipelines and training camps for promising skiers and snowboarders.
Infrastructure Growth: Working alongside state units to improve training facilities and grassroots access in the country’s alpine regions.
International Competitiveness: Elevating Indian athletes onto the global stage by streamlining entries and technical preparation for elite-level international events, including International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) competitions.
Uniting the Snowsports Community
Following the announcement of the results, the newly elected leadership expressed deep gratitude to the member units, state federations, and sports stakeholders who rallied behind the electoral process. The executive team also acknowledged the vital role played by the Delhi High Court in facilitating a fair, democratic, and legally sound transition of power.
"This transparent election marks a turning point for winter sports in India. Our priority is entirely on the athletes—giving them the stable governance, resources, and international exposure they need to truly thrive on the world stage."— Statement from the newly elected SSI Executive Council
With a permanent administration now firmly at the helm, Ski and Snowboard India is positioned to rebuild its domestic calendar and establish a more robust, unified ecosystem for the nation's winter sports enthusiasts and elite competitors alike.
