Granby Ranch Unveils Multi-Year Development Plan at Summer Concert Kickoff

Granby Ranch Resort used the first night of its Wednesday Night Summer Concert Series to make a bigger announcement than its musical lineup.

As the Taylor Scott Band prepared to take the stage in the base lodge's Slopeside Great Room, Dave Huber, the resort's general manager of development and construction, stepped up at 4:30 p.m. to introduce "Granby Ranch Elevated" — a roadmap for the Colorado resort's growth over the next three to five years, according to Sky-Hi News.

Huber framed the plan as an effort to balance day-to-day resort operations with continued real estate growth, a dual track that runs through nearly every project on the list.

Housing leads the way

Real estate is the centerpiece of Granby Ranch Elevated. The Saddle Mountain and Meadows Townhomes are nearing completion, Sky-Hi News reported, rounding out two of the resort's first major housing pushes. The Meadows units are aimed at a more attainable price point, with two- to three-bedroom layouts and outdoor patios, while the Saddle Mountain homes lean upscale, with open floor plans and multiple levels of mountain-view decking.

A multifamily project called Wrangler's Crossing is also underway across from the base lodge. Beyond that, the resort's largest residential undertaking is a trio of single-family neighborhoods — Eisenhower Camp, Greyhawk and Timber Ridge — each with its own identity. Eisenhower Camp is going up in a mountain-contemporary style with views toward Parry Peak and the Fraser River; Greyhawk will sit along the golf course; and Timber Ridge, planned for East Mountain, is designed for ski-in, ski-out access. Construction has started on Eisenhower Camp, with Greyhawk and Timber Ridge to follow.

To support that growing inventory of homes, Huber said the resort plans to extend utilities toward the top of East Mountain and the golf course, building in redundancy so crews can perform repairs without cutting off service, Sky-Hi News reported. Additional cell and Wi-Fi towers are also planned to improve coverage across the property. A new community space, Ranch Hall, has already opened to give homeowners access to a fitness center, pool, hot tub and playground.

Mountain operations get attention too

On the operations side, Huber pointed to continued growth in the ski school and a new building near the Quick Draw lift that will serve as ski patrol headquarters, cutting down response times across the mountain. A lift maintenance bay is also planned near the summit. After a snowfall total that came in below expectations last winter, the resort says it will keep investing in snowmaking capacity and automation; it has already added a new magic carpet lift, expanded beginner terrain, refreshed the base-area lawns and purchased two additional snowcats.

Looking further out, the plan calls for a new lift south of the existing Quick Draw Express to open up more of East Mountain, along with a new base-area restaurant, a dining hall and an event ballroom. A new golf clubhouse, an upgraded wedding venue and reworked resort entrances round out the longer-term wish list, though Huber said exact timing for those projects is still being worked out as Granby Ranch weighs both internal priorities and outside factors.
