Take to the lake this summer in Geneva, with two unmissable festivals

This August, Geneva’s lakeside will become a vibrant hub of activity as two unmissable festivals take to the water – Rêve d'Eau, taking place from 07 to 30 August, and On the Water, which will take to the lake on Saturday 08 August for one day only.

Rêve d'Eau, translating to Water Dream, is the latest festival to take to Geneva’s iconic lake, and it’s a must-visit for anyone visiting the city this summer. Taking place across 24 days, the free-to-attend event will take centre stage in Geneva’s social calendar, with over 70 shows for visitors to enjoy.

During the day, choreographed 4-minute water performances will take place every 30 minutes between 12 and 9pm, creating a magical atmosphere on one of the world’s best-known lakes. Transforming Lake Geneva into a vibrant stage, the festival will also bring together water, light, and music to create a unique immersive spectacle every evening between 07 and 30 August, bringing together friends and families in an exhilarating celebration that showcases the very best of the city’s landscapes.

Visitors can expect a relaxed lakeside ambience as the sun sets over the lake, with bars, restaurants, and musical performances to see them into the evening. Those looking for something more upbeat will delight in the Rêve d'Eau’s two DJ nights, taking place on 21 and 22 August, and playing a mixture of commercial, house, and electronic music across the two nights.

August will also see the return of the one-of-a-kind On the Water festival on Saturday 08 August, for a second edition that promises an afternoon of excitement for all. Taking place in the heart of Geneva’s harbour, this is the only festival to be held 100% on water, and it’s not one to be missed.

On the Water festivalgoers can look forward to an afternoon of dancing under the sun on boats, paddleboards, and pedal boats to live DJ sets from a floating stage, creating the ultimate aquatic experience. Combining electronic music with an unrivalled setting, the festival offers pure musical immersion, bringing something totally unique to Geneva’s lake this summer.
