Sitour's New piste closure sign ensures high visibility and more safety in the ski resort
30/July/2026
The new sitour piste closure sign, with its clear warning signals, standard-compliant design and simple controls, ensures the protection of hazardous areas outside of operating hours, thus providing greater safety in the ski resort.
Maximum attention through unmistakable warning signals
In organized ski areas, safety is the top priority. To best support cable car companies in securing hazardous areas outside of operating hours, sitour has developed a new, ÖNORM-compliant slope closure sign. Thanks to its high visibility, this efficient solution ensures that slope/ski route closures are clearly perceived even in limited visibility or darkness.
At the center of the sign is a backlit "Closed" symbol, complemented by flashing lights at all four corners. Various hazard symbols and a specific closure period can also be displayed, depending on the particular hazard situation. This allows winter sports enthusiasts to see at a glance that a slope or ski route is currently closed.
Standards-compliant safety for continuous use
The new ski slope closure sign was developed in accordance with the requirements of the "Traffic Safety Obligation for Ski Slopes" and complies with the applicable Austrian standards (ÖNORMEN). At the same time, it impresses with its robust construction: UV-resistant materials and high weather resistance ensure reliable operation even under demanding conditions in alpine regions.
This provides ski resorts with a long-lasting safety solution that meets both legal requirements and the practical challenges of daily operations.
Flexible control for different requirements
Two options are available for controlling the ski slope closure signs. The CPS control system allows for the simultaneous management of multiple signs, the programming of individual operating times, and the storage of operational data. Alternatively, a remote control enables direct on-site control of individual signs – ideal for locations without a network connection.
The flexible control system allows the ski slope closure board to be optimally adapted to the respective operational processes in the ski resort.
Proven system boards for orientation and safety
For more than 60 years, sitour has supported cable car companies in Austria with standardized information, orientation and safety signage. An extensive range of system panels makes it possible to provide guests with relevant information in a clear and understandable way, to facilitate orientation and thus to ensure a safe stay in the ski and hiking area.
The diverse range of system panels includes standard-compliant signage for hazards, rules and prohibitions, behavioral guidelines, transport regulations, and numerous additional information points. Depending on the application, wall-mounted panels, freestanding panels, and supplementary signs for information and wayfinding systems are available. In this way, sitour supports mountain railways in implementing safety standards visibly and clearly.
