Martin Ladner takes over as CEO of Bergbahnen Kappl AG
06/July/2026
Martin Ladner, a graduate engineer in business administration, has assumed the position of CEO of Bergbahnen Kappl AG. Ladner, a native of Kappl and resident of the town, previously served as an authorized signatory for the company and brings with him not only sound business expertise but also extensive specialist knowledge and many years of international experience in cable car construction.
With the appointment of Martin Ladner, the Supervisory Board of Bergbahnen Kappl AG is ensuring continuity in the company's successful management while simultaneously promoting the future-oriented development of the leadership structure. A year ago, following a recommendation from the previous CEO, Andreas Kleinheinz, the Supervisory Board had already laid the groundwork for a smooth succession plan and appointed Martin Ladner as an authorized signatory of the company.
Andreas Kleinheinz, long-time board member of Bergbahnen Kappl AG, has decided not to extend his term of office. Under his leadership, significant development steps were taken for the company – most notably the successful construction of the Diasbahn cable car, which is considered an important milestone for the further development of the ski area.
Martin Ladner sets new priorities for Kappl's future:
"With great respect for what has already been achieved in Kappl and a clear vision for the future, I will continue to develop the Kappl mountain lifts with energy and foresight. Our aim is to combine sustainable growth with the highest quality experience for our guests and to continuously set new standards in our holiday and leisure offerings. Together with our partners in the region, we will unlock new opportunities, drive forward innovative projects, and strengthen Kappl as a strong, future-proof mountain destination – economically, socially, and ecologically," emphasizes Martin Ladner, the new CEO of Kappl Mountain Lifts AG.
Kappl continues to invest in quality, comfort, and sustainable mountain experiences.
Following the successful construction of the Diasbahn cable car, Kappl Mountain Railways AG is focusing on further modernizing the ski area, providing additional comfort improvements for guests, and sustainably strengthening its competitiveness. Together with the new management team, Kappl aims to further develop its position as an attractive mountain destination in both winter and summer.
The Kappl mountain lifts are part of the Kappl & See ski area, which boasts a total of 85 kilometers of slopes and 20 lifts. The ski resort impresses with its snow-sure high altitude, modern snowmaking facilities, themed restaurants, and attractive offerings for freeriders.
An important development step was the renewal of the feeder railway: The existing railway was replaced by a high-performance 10-person gondola lift, which significantly improved comfort and transport capacity.
Even in summer, Alpe Dias plays a central role. With its adventure park, 4.2-kilometer-long mountain cart track, and flow trail from the mountain to the valley station, it's a versatile destination for families, hikers, and bikers. At the same time, Alpe Dias continues to be managed as an alpine pasture – regionality and a harmonious coexistence of tourism and agriculture therefore remain particularly important.
TVB President Alexander von der Thannen congratulates Martin Ladner on his new position.
Alexander von der Thannen, President of the Paznaun-Ischgl Tourism Association, warmly congratulates Martin Ladner on his appointment as the new CEO of Bergbahnen Kappl AG: “We look forward to continuing our collaboration and are confident that together we will further develop the strengths of our region – especially the resort and ski area of Kappl – and successfully implement numerous exciting projects for guests and locals alike. On behalf of the Paznaun-Ischgl Tourism Association and the entire team, I wish Martin Ladner all the best, much success, and many interesting and fulfilling challenges in his new role.”
With Martin Ladner at the helm, Kappl Mountain Railways AG is focusing on a combination of regional roots, international industry experience, and strategic vision. The goal is to further strengthen Kappl as a modern, sustainable, and quality-oriented mountain destination – in both winter and summer.
