Adelboden project Direttissima: Board of Directors completes first capital increase
22/July/2026
Adelboden Mountain Railways AG (BAAG) has successfully completed the first capital increase for the "Direttissima" project. A total of approximately 4.9 million Swiss francs has already been committed for the financing of the new cable car. Participation in the capital increase is still possible.
On June 29, 2026, the Board of Directors of BAAG completed the first tranche of the capital increase, amounting to approximately CHF 1.4 million. Further contributions will be made through a second capital increase, expected to take place in autumn 2026. These include, among other things, the CHF 1 million contribution approved by the Adelboden municipal assembly, as well as further share subscriptions already pledged. In addition, private investors have committed to providing convertible loans totaling approximately CHF 2.5 million.
This brings the total available funding for the "Direttissima" project to approximately 4.9 million Swiss francs. The company aims to increase its share capital by at least 5 million Swiss francs.
Broad support for the future project
Over 2,000 people (including around 400 new shareholders) have participated in the capital increase so far. "We are delighted by the strong support from the local population, existing and new shareholders, private lenders, and the public sector," says René Müller, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bergbahnen Adelboden AG. "It shows that the
'Direttissima' is perceived far beyond the company as an important future project for Adelboden and the entire region."
The project replaces a 6-person gondola lift built in 1990, offering greater comfort and strengthening the destination's long-term competitiveness. The new Sillerenbahn lift will transport guests from the Oey valley station directly to the Sillerenbühl summit in just ten minutes.
Participation still possible
With the completion of the first tranche of the capital increase, the equity financing is not yet finished. The amendment to the articles of association, approved by shareholders last November, allows the board of directors to carry out further capital increases within the defined financial framework for the next five years. Interested parties can therefore still participate. "We welcome any support," says Müller, adding: "It strengthens our company's financial foundation and creates additional flexibility for realizing the 'Direttissima' project. Solid equity is a key success factor, especially for infrastructure projects."
