The Hotel Les Grandes Alpes occupies a prime location on La Croisette in the heart of Courchevel 1850, one of the world's most exclusive ski destinations. The property features nine luxury apartments with capacities ranging from 150 to 300 square meters, designed by renowned interior designer Jean-Marc Mouchet. The hotel offers ski-in/ski-out access and houses the two-Michelin-star Restaurant Sylvestre, helmed by chef Sylvestre Wahid.
The establishment represents one of Courchevel's most iconic addresses, having first opened in 1948 alongside the resort's inaugural ski lift. Over the decades, it has evolved from housing post offices, tourist offices, and ski schools into a world-class luxury boutique hotel catering to an international clientele.
The fire comes during peak season for Courchevel 1850, when the resort attracts wealthy visitors from around the world for its world-class skiing within the Trois Vallées ski area, luxury shopping, and Michelin-starred dining. The resort is home to more Michelin stars than any other ski destination in the Alps.

The incident marks a significant blow to Courchevel's hospitality sector during one of its busiest periods and raises questions about the future of one of the resort's most storied establishments.
