‘Your Winter Week 2026’ Successfully Launched With Three School Classes
19/February/2026
Winter sports weeks with the whole class are undoubtedly among the highlights of any school career. Therefore, it's important to make this experience possible for as many children and young people as possible. For precisely this reason, the winter sports initiative "Your Winter. Your Sport." – supported by the German Ski Association, the German Ski Instructors Association, Snowboard Germany, and the Foundation for Safety in Skiing – launched the school class project "Your Winter Week." Nearly 1,000 school classes applied for the trips this year. Miriam Neureuther, patron of "Your Winter. Your Sport.", drew the nine winning classes in November.
The German Ski Association, the German Ski Instructors Association, Snowboard Germany, and the Foundation for Safety in Skiing have joined forces to launch "Your Winter. Your Sport." The initiative aims to pool expertise and resources, spread positive messages, and inspire more people to participate in winter sports. Under the umbrella brand "Your Winter. Your Sport.", a network of currently around 100 partners from the winter sports industry is growing, working to give winter sports a stronger voice in society. To ensure everyone has access to winter sports, the initiators founded the association "Your Winter. Your Sport." e.V. This association provides socially, physically, or mentally disadvantaged children and young people with the opportunity to experience winter sports. Ten percent of all partner contributions to the initiative are forwarded to the association.
The first school classes kicked off the DeineWinterWoche (Your Winter Week) back in January. The 10th grade class from the Waldschule Hatten in Lower Saxony spent their winter sports week in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. With excellent snow conditions, almost all the students gained their first experience on skis. Under the professional guidance of the local ski school, they quickly made noticeable progress, allowing them to enjoy the slopes against the backdrop of the alpine winter scenery safely and with great enthusiasm.
A week later, the 8th grade class from the Green Comprehensive School in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, visited Obertauern in the Salzburg region. Many of the students were skiing on the slopes for the very first time. Qualified instruction, ideal conditions, and age-appropriate supervision ensured lasting success and unforgettable experiences in the snow.
At the end of January, the 8th grade students of the BEST-Sabel secondary school from Berlin spent their winter sports week at Feldberg in the Black Forest. With excellent winter sports conditions, this class focused not only on skiing but also on snowboarding lessons. Many students were on skis or snowboards for the first time and used the winter sports week to gain their first practical experience on snow.
All school classes will travel to their respective regions with our partner Deutsche Bahn. This ensures that students and their teachers travel in a climate-friendly manner with a low carbon footprint.
All children will also be provided with high-quality rental equipment, if needed, which INTERSPORT supplies in cooperation with selected sporting goods manufacturers. The costs for travel, local transportation, lift passes, ski/snowboard lessons, and full-board accommodation are fully covered by the participating partners. The class trips are organized by alpetour and Klühspies Reisen – the specialists for school ski trips.
At the end of February, the next three classes will travel to Lenggries in the Tölz region, Oberstdorf, and the Zillertal Valley holiday region in Tyrol. To conclude this year's DeineWinterWoche (Your Winter Week), three more school classes will travel in March to the Stubai Valley in Tyrol, Altenmarkt/Zauchensee in the Salzburg region, and Kronplatz in South Tyrol.
