Weekend ski holidays surge as UK search interest triples

As the ski season hits its peak, Google Trends data shows that January 2026 UK search interest for “weekend ski holiday” has tripled year-on-year and has more than doubled for “long ski weekend”.

Heidi is seeing this surge in search interest align with an increase in bookings. Over the last two weeks (12-27 January), its weekend and long weekend ski holiday bookings have spiked - especially France bookings which are up 55% year-on-year, and up 277% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Google Trends’ relative UK search interest index scores, the following terms have seen consistent seasonal peaks each January over the past 5 years, but have risen to a new peak this year:

• “Weekend ski holiday”: 60 in Jan 2026 vs 20 in Jan 2025 (200% increase, tripled)

• “Long ski weekend”: 93 vs 46 (102% increase, more than doubled)

• “Ski weekend”: 100 vs 55 (82% increase)

• “Weekend ski trip”: 86 vs 45 (91% increase)

This trend - and Heidi’s booking data - shows that Brits are increasingly planning weekend ski breaks, and suggests they are waiting for peak ski season (January) to book them.
