Uber brings Snowmobiles to the Winter Olympics for free

With the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, just days away, Uber - the official ride-hailing sponsor of the Games - today announced a suite of winter mobility services designed to help people make the most of their trip across the region’s mountain clusters.

From Milan and Verona to Cortina and the wider alpine corridor, more than 1.5 million visitors are expected across the Olympic and Paralympic territories. Uber is scaling operations for the Games period and forecasts millions of trip requests, with peak-day demand expected to be up to 200% as people travel between airports, stations, hotels and venue areas.

More ways to move: Uber Ski and Uber Reserve

To help travellers get to and from the slopes more easily, Uber will roll out Uber Ski - a dedicated ride option for people travelling with skis, snowboards and winter equipment - making it simpler to move between hotels, lifts and key hotspots across the mountain region.

Uber will also expand its ground transport options with Uber Reserve, allowing visitors to book rides in advance and plan journeys between airports, train stations, accommodation and destinations across the region — helping travellers beat the crowds during one of the busiest winter travel periods of the year.

New way to ride in Cortina: Uber Snowmobile

Alongside its Games-time ride-hailing operations, Uber is also working with local mountain mobility specialists Snowdreamers on a limited-edition winter ride service in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Launching later this week, Uber Snowmobile will enable users to request a one-hour snowmobile ride via the Uber app on selected dates, helping visitors reach scenic alpine areas beyond the central village. Each ride includes a professional driver, safety equipment, and exclusive Uber-branded winter swag. In true Uber style, transfers to and from the mountain are included from anywhere in Cortina and the surrounding areas.

Each snowmobile seats two riders, with bookings capped at eight guests. Unlike most snowmobile rides - which often cost hundreds of euros and sell out weeks in advance - Uber Snowmobile will be free to book every Saturday and Sunday throughout February 2026. Users can book in advance via the Uber app on a first-come, first-served basis from 4 February.

Supporting winter travel at scale

As the Official Ride-Hailing Sponsor, Uber will scale operations to support high demand across the region, including a record 5,000 local drivers, dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones at venue locations, and real-time traffic mapping and in-app guidance to help riders and drivers navigate efficiently across the Games’ vast 22,000 km² footprint — connecting airports, train stations, hotels and competition sites across Northern Italy.

Anabel Diaz, Vice President, EMEA Mobility at Uber, said: “The Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are about far more than what happens inside the venues. As Official Ride-Hailing Sponsor of Milano Cortina 2026, we’re focused on helping visitors move safely and efficiently — whether that’s getting to the slopes with Uber Ski, planning ahead with Uber Reserve, or accessing the wider alpine landscape through a limited mobility pilot delivered with licensed local operators. It’s about helping people make the most of being here in Cortina and the surrounding region.”

Availability of Uber Snowmobile is limited and subject to weather conditions.
