Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa Connects To Milano/Cortina Olympic Winter Games
05/February/2026
When the Winter Olympics come around, there are just two places where fans of the Games want to go. One is the actual site itself, in this case, Milano/Cortina, or right here in Lake Placid.
The events in Italy are set for Feb. 6-22. Lake Placid and the Mirror Lake Inn plan on taking you there, minus the airfare. Starting with our AAA Four Diamond facility, you can support the home team and get into the USA-USA spirit in numerous ways.
The Front Desk of our Lake Placid luxury resort will hand out daily event schedules so you can keep track throughout the day. In addition, a cut-out of the likeness of Andrew Weibrecht, the Mirror Lake Inn’s Olympic silver and bronze medalist, will reside in our lobby with updated medal counts.
Follow the action:
For starters, most every TV set in our common areas will be tuned to the Olympic Winter Games - the television in The View Lounge, the Game Room TV, the new flat screens inside The Cottage Café as well as outdoor screens there and inside the large white tent adjacent to the pub. In addition, both establishments will offer Olympic themed cocktails and features.
The Disney movie Miracle and other related content will play on a loop on the second hospitality channel in each room.
Some special events:
You can play Olympic Trivia, hosted by Andrew on Friday, Feb. 13 from 5-7 PM. It’ll take place in The Cottage’s white tent. Entry fee is $10 per person, with a minimum team size of 2 and a maximum team size of 4 people. Space will be limited and is on a first come, first served basis. The gold medal prize is a $50 bar tab and a Finlandia Vodka branded snowboard from JONES. Silver medalists get their entry fee waived.
Thereafter, you can enjoy a roundtable discussion with Olympians from the region on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 4-6 PM. It will occur in the hotel’s Adirondack Conference Center. In addition to Weibrecht, participants will include 2018 Olympian Tommy Beisemeyer (alpine skiing), Olympic silver and bronze medalist Mark Grimmette (luge), Olympic silver medalist Paul Wylie (figure skating), 1968 Olympian Jay Rand (ski jumping), Four-time Olympian Tim Burke (biathlon) and his wife Andrea Henkel Burke of Germany. Andrea won two Olympic gold medals in biathlon. The roundtable will include a meet and greet as well as a Q and A and is open to the public, with a suggested donation. All proceeds going to the New York Ski Educational Foundation to help support the next generation of Lake Placid Olympians!
In this Upstate New York community, you can also immerse yourself in the action from Italy. To prime yourself for the Winter Olympics, Lake Placid will host the Empire State Winter Games from Feb. 5-8 operated by the Adirondack Sports Council. Some 2,500 athletes who live and/or train in New York will compete on the 1980 Olympic venues that are managed by the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
Check out the Opening Ceremony on Feb. 6 from both Roamers Café at the Olympic Center, and the Upper Lodge at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Both will have large screen viewing.
There will be daily viewing zones at the venues as well as photo ops at Mid’s Park on Main Street. The entire 16-day party can be found right here.
At their Main Street location, Northwood School will broadcast the Games in their street-facing windows. There will also be a display of Northwood athletes who have gone on to compete in the Olympics.
Next month, Lake Placid is offering a lot, but the Olympic Games are a lot. Start training now and you’ll be ready!
