Pilatus-Bahnen AG achieves record result

Pilatus-Bahnen AG looks back on an exceptionally successful 2025 financial year. With a new revenue record of 46.9 million Swiss francs, a record EBITDA of 18.5 million Swiss francs, and a total of 840,870 guests, the company surpassed all previous records.

A special milestone: The cogwheel railway transported 464,165 passengers, more than ever before in its history. The fascination surrounding Mount Pilatus and the world's steepest cogwheel railway thus remains unbroken. "2025 was another record year for Pilatus-Bahnen AG. With the investments made and the reserves built up, we are creating the foundation for future innovations – carefully planned and with future generations in mind," says Bruno Thürig, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Strong operating year despite unpredictable weather

The year 2025 was characterized by high demand from around the world. Thanks to a well-balanced mix of guests and excellent weather conditions in June, exceptionally high visitor numbers were recorded. Despite a rainy summer, visitor numbers remained consistently high in July and August. Management particularly emphasizes the dedication of the employees. Great things were accomplished daily at all locations – from Alpnachstad and Kriens to the summit. Team spirit, passion, and cross-departmental collaboration formed the foundation of this success.

Strategic decisions and focus on sustainability

Pilatus-Bahnen AG has also made significant strategic progress. The newly acquired ISO 14001 certification and the associated "Swisstainable leading – Level 3" award underscore the company's clear commitment to sustainability as a key success factor. The implemented measures include, among others:

  • a new photovoltaic system on the workshop roof in Alpnachstad

  • Optimizations of the heating systems on Fräkmüntegg and Pilatus Kulm

  • an improved guest arrival situation ("Sense of Arrival") through the temporary relocation of the ticket counters in Kriens

In parallel, leadership principles were further developed and the values of "honest, respectful, collaborative, and warm" were firmly established company-wide. Furthermore, recruitment processes, working conditions, and employee support were consistently improved.

CEO Sandra Bütler and Chairman of the Board Bruno Thürig thank the employees, guests, partners around Mount Pilatus, and shareholders for their trusting cooperation: " We are doing everything we can to further develop the company sustainably and successfully. "
