Mount St. Louis Moonstone Invests Over $4.3 Million Ahead of the 2026/27 Season
26/April/2026
Mount St. Louis Moonstone (MSLM) is making winter bigger, brighter, snowier and more delicious for the 2026/27 season with more than $5 million in capital investments designed to elevate the guest experience both on and off the slopes.
Founded in 1964 and located just north of Barrie, Mount St. Louis Moonstone is one of Canada’s largest family-owned ski resorts. The resort features 36 slopes, Canada’s first Adventure8 chairlift, the Elfriede Huter Express Doppelmayr D-Line 6-Pack, award-winning terrain parks, and one of Ontario’s most advanced snowmaking systems.
“These investments reinforce our commitment to staying ahead of guest expectations and maintaining our position as Ontario’s leader in skiing and snowboarding,” said Andre Huter, Operations Director at Mount St. Louis Moonstone. “From advanced snowmaking technology to expanded lift capacity and infrastructure improvements, we’re continuing to invest where it matters most, on the guest experience.”
Go Where the Snow Is
Snowmaking remains the backbone of MSLM’s commitment to skiers and snowboarders. This summer, the resort is investing $1.6 million to replace 60 manual snow guns with state-of-the-art automated fan guns from Techno Alpin.
On the slopes, a new $650,000 Pisten Bully 600 Polar Stage V groomer will join the fleet, ensuring the signature corduroy conditions guests expect across all 36 runs.
These upgrades will improve efficiency, accelerate early-season coverage, and deliver more consistent conditions across the mountain, keeping MSLM’s promise: Go Where the Snow Is.
More Skiing and Riding. Less Waiting.
To improve mountain flow and beginner access, MSLM will install a new Team Service surface lift on the Moonstone side of the resort.
The new $750,000 surface lift will move an additional 1,800 people per hour, helping distribute skiers and riders more efficiently while creating an easier progression zone for first-time guests.
The Team Service Premium carpet lift features a transparent polycarbonate weather cover and LED lighting to keep guests comfortable in all conditions.
Brighter Nights on Big Lonely
Night skiing gets a major upgrade with a $350,000 lighting enhancement from Musco Lighting.
New high-performance fixtures including coloured LED lighting on Big Lonely will improve visibility while creating an exciting new visual experience for night skiers and riders.
Easier Access
To improve arrival on peak weekends and holidays, MSLM is expanding its West Lot parking area to accommodate more than 200 additional vehicles, reducing congestion and improving guest access.
Elevating Performance in the Rossignol Experience Centre
MSLM is investing $700,000 in a new Wintersteiger Juniper automated tuning machine to deliver world-class edge and base preparation for its rental fleet.
Properly tuned equipment improves performance for beginners, racers, freestylers, and recreational skiers and riders alike.
New Food & Beverage Experiences
MSLM is also investing $250,000 into major food and beverage enhancements across the resort.
Upgrades include renovated washroom facilities, improvements to the upper level of the Louis Chalet, and the development of a new European-style Beer Hall Biergarten inspired by the resort’s Austrian roots.
Guests can look forward to unique new menu offerings including pretzel bites, bratwurst flatbread, schnitzel sliders, tater kegs with beer cheese, and apple strudel pizza.
And there’s more to come. A new outdoor food experience is also being developed at Promenade at the top of the mountain featuring scenic views and tacos. Details remain under wraps for now, with MSLM promising to reveal more throughout the summer.
As construction progresses, guests can expect behind-the-scenes updates and first-look visuals shared across MSLM’s social media channels.

Our Family Invites Your Family
For more than six decades, Mount St. Louis Moonstone has remained family-owned and operated with a simple philosophy: reinvest in the hill and create unforgettable winter experiences for families.
“For over 60 years, our family has believed that every dollar reinvested into Mount St. Louis Moonstone should directly improve the guest experience,” said Robert Huter, General Manager. “Guests continue to recognize the value of skiing close to home with reliable snow conditions, and that’s why demand for Podium Passes continues to grow. These investments ensure families enjoy better conditions, more value, and more time on snow this winter.”
This winter, go where the snow is.
