Mont Sutton Looks Back On 65th Ski Season

The 65th ski season at Mont SUTTON ended on Sunday, April 12, in conditions that were once again exceptional for this time of year. Since its opening on Friday, December 5, the resort has recorded a total of 564 cm of snowfall at the summit during the season.

A major ski resort in Quebec, located in the Eastern Townships, Mont Sutton is renowned for its unique glade concept and numerous junctions that allow skiers to create their own runs on every descent. It also stands out for its authentic atmosphere, its omnipresent natural environment, its exceptional snow conditions, and its outdoor sculptures. Now a must-visit four-season destination, the resort also offers mountain biking trails, summit camping, chairlift rides, disc golf, and ziplines during the summer.

In this context, the president and CEO of Mont SUTON, Jean-Michel Ryan, gives a positive assessment of the season and highlights the main transitions to come for the mountain.

Exceptional conditions and sustained attendance

According to Mr. Ryan, the 2025-2026 season was distinguished by the quality and consistency of operations and snowfall, allowing for a long operating period and a sustained skiing experience: “ You were there in great numbers and with great enthusiasm to enjoy the season, right from its incredible start. The abundant snowfall again this year allowed us to have a memorable season, but it was above all your presence, your energy, and your connection to the mountain that gave it its true value. Thank you also for your outstanding participation in our events such as Retro Day for the 65th season, Snow On the Beach, the Real Challenge…. ”

A significant transition in the western zone of the mountain

The 2025-2026 season also marks the final year of operation for the chairlifts in the western zone, lifts I, Io, and IIo. These lifts will soon be dismantled to make way for a new quad chairlift with a loading conveyor, which will also include a redesign of the learning area with the addition of a second magic carpet. These new features are scheduled to be operational next season.

These projects represent an investment of over $8 million and aim to modernize the customer experience and improve operational efficiency. The largest investment in the mountain's history, this work is made possible, it should be noted, thanks to a $5 million grant from the PARIT (Tourism Industry Recovery Assistance Program), as part of a comprehensive development phase of the mountain's four-season strategic development plan.

As part of this dismantling, approximately fifty Mueller double chairs will be put up for sale. Details regarding this initiative will be announced soon and are already generating considerable interest.

Continuity and recognition

This 65th season marks Mr. Jean-Michel Ryan’s 20 years as general manager of the mountain and his 10 years as co-owner, and recognition of several players is in order at the end of this season.

First, to Sylvain Gervais and Pierre Chesnay, Mr. Ryan's business partners at the head of the mountain, whose commitment, vision and complicity are essential pillars of the evolution of the four-season resort.

The trust placed in him by the Boulanger family and the legacy left by the ski area, as well as Luc Boulanger, who is still involved in operations, are also to be mentioned as contributors to his success.

Special mention goes to Jocelyne Trudeau, who has been responsible for morning conditions for over 35 years and is completing her last official winter in this role this year. This demonstrates that, at Mont SUTTON, a lasting love affair truly exists between the employees and the mountain.

Mont SUTTON is now beginning the rollout of its 2026 summer programming, which will begin in mid-May.
