Doppelmayr busy keeping the world moving. From urban commutes in Paris to autonomous chairs in the Alps, 2025/26 season was a massive year

Once again, the Doppelmayr Group can look back on an impressive project record. Over the past year, the ropeway manufacturer handed over a total of 84 new installations to customers worldwide. Europe leads the regional ranking with 55 new ropeways, followed by North America (17), Asia (8), Oceania (3) and South America (1). Numerous highlight projects were successfully implemented, including the Câble C1 in the Greater Paris area (FRA), the world's first TRI-Line in Hoch-Ybrig (CHE), as well as further innovative ropeway projects in Austria, Chile and USA.

From 3S and monocable gondola lifts to Monoracks. In the review period from February 2025 to January 2026, the Doppelmayr Group once again significantly shaped mobility in mountain regions, cities and at points of interest with a wide range of ropeway projects. With 84 new installations delivered worldwide, the high level of the previous year (85) was maintained. This year alone, 44 new installations were realized in the Alpine region – an increase of 13 installations compared to the previous year. What stands out is not only the sheer number of systems handed over to customers, but also their uniqueness and innovative strength.

Flagship projects in urban Mobility: Câble C1, Île-de-France, Greater Paris Area (FRA)

On December 13, 2025, the Île-de-France region inaugurated its first urban ropeway with the Câble C1 – the longest urban ropeway in Europe. The 4.5-kilometre-long line with five stations extends Metro Line 8 and connects the southern suburbs of Paris quickly, barrier-free and without local CO₂ emissions to the public transport network.

A total of 105 OMEGA V-XL cabins, each with a capacity of ten passengers, offer a high level of comfort as well as dedicated areas for bicycles, strollers and wheelchairs. With more than 11,000 passengers per day and a travel time of just 18 minutes – effectively halving the previous journey time – the Câble C1 represents an efficient alternative in the congested transport network. It is a flagship project for sustainable urban mobility using ropeway systems and a model for cities worldwide.

TRI-Line world premiere: Weglosen–Seebli, Hoch-Ybrig (CHE)

With the new TRI-Line Weglosen–Seebli, the world's first ropeway featuring the innovative TRI-Line system entered service in December 2025. The system combines the advantages of 3S technology with the D-Line and impresses with a newly developed carriage, compact stations, high wind stability and barrier-free vehicles.

Eighteen STELLA cabins by CWA transport up to 1,400 passengers per hour, with a travel time of around seven minutes. Only two towers are required along the approximately 1.7-kilometre route. Each tower consists of two tubular steel columns, reducing the footprint and allowing the installation to blend harmoniously into the landscape.

The AURO capability also enables autonomous operation if required. Operators can flexibly switch between operating modes and optimize resource deployment. The system offers an attractive solution for applications positioned between classic monocable gondola lifts and 3S installations.

Autonomous Operation: Ischgl and Sölden (AUT)

In Ischgl, two new 8-seater chairlifts – Höllboden and Sassgalun – have been demonstrating what is technically possible since this season. Both installations offer maximum comfort and, thanks to innovative AURO technology, set a new benchmark in safety and efficiency. Cameras and sensors at the top station continuously provide data, which is evaluated in real time by an AI-supported system. If required, the lift is automatically slowed down or stopped – entirely without operating personnel at the mountain station (AURO CLD).

At the valley station, the brand-new AURO Assist supports operating staff by monitoring whether passengers are seated correctly on the chair. Sustainability is also a key focus: solar installations on the stations will cover part of the energy demand in the future.

The Bergbahnen Sölden also launched the season with two new D-Line 8-seater chairlifts: Silberbrünnl and Einzeiger. With capacities of up to 3,800 and 4,000 passengers per hour respectively, they transport guests comfortably and safely up the mountain. Conveyor belts at the loading area, lockable safety bars and weather protection bubbles ensure maximum comfort, while AURO technology enables autonomous operation at the mountain station and supports operating staff at the valley station with AURO Assist. Short travel times, comfortable individual seats and state-of-the-art technology take the skiing experience to a new level.

Sustainable Access to a Point of Interest: Teleférico Pío Nono, Santiago de Chile (CHL)

The new Pío Nono 8-seater gondola lift connects three popular destinations over a route of just under one kilometre: the National Zoo at the valley station, the future Eco-Park Chile Nativo – accessible via the intermediate station – and the summit of Cerro San Cristóbal, offering spectacular views over the city and the Andes. Twenty-four modern cabins equipped with Bike Holders enable comfortable rides for visitors and cyclists, providing access to various trails on the city hill. The installation strengthens the park's internal transport network and relieves existing transport systems, representing a forward-looking step towards sustainable mobility in the Chilean capital of Santiago de Chile.

Pioneering project: Explorer Gondola, Montana (USA)

The new 10-seater lift Explorer Gondola is the highlight of the ropeway transformation in Big Sky. It now enables a continuous connection from Mountain Village to the iconic top station of the Lone Peak Tram. Eighty-three customized OMEGA V cabins by CWA accommodate ten passengers each and feature panoramic windows, heated individual seats and, for the first time in North America, the TWISTIN ski rack. As a flagship installation for Big Sky, it is the first ropeway in North America to feature the cubic D-Line station design R2, Bike Cabs for summer operations and a travel speed of 7.1 m/s, powered by the near-silent Doppelmayr Direct Drive. The impressive mid-station opens up ideal training terrain and allows beginners to enjoy a true alpine experience. From the top station, guests can access the legendary Lone Peak Tram, offering views across three U.S. states and two national parks.
