Since summer 2005, the cable cars in Saalbach Hinterglemm have been part of the association of the "Best Austrian Summer Cable Cars." This seal of approval is an initiative of the Cable Car Association of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and has stood for quality, cooperation, and the sustainable development of the Alpine mountain summer for over 20 years. Only those cable car companies that guarantee their guests innovative and carefree mountain experiences through diverse offerings are recognized. To achieve this, they must meet 100 criteria, which are re-examined every three years. The cable cars in the Glemmtal Valley are certified in the "Family" and "Adventure" categories – and have once again impressively confirmed their role as leading tourism companies in both areas.

The “Family Mountains”

The Kohlmais or Reiterkogel cable cars provide direct access to an area that offers ideal conditions for families. Along with Leogang and Fieberbrunn, Saalbach Hinterglemm is considered one of Austria's most relaxed family mountains.

A central feature of the mountain railways are the playful discovery tours for children, which belong to the “Family” category of the “Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railways” quality seal.

The "Mountain Kodok" themed trail awaits at Reiterkogel in Hinterglemm. There, young visitors solve tricky tasks at several stations to help Kodok the goblin reclaim his stolen magic tools.

At Kohlmais in Saalbach, little explorers are accompanied by the clown Montelino on the adventure trail with a water playground and wildlife feeding.

The “Adventure Mountains”

Fun and action are guaranteed here, not only on adventure trails and fun sports equipment but also on the varied bike trails.

Saalbach Hinterglemm, along with Saalfelden-Leogang and Fieberbrunn, forms Austria's largest biking region. Over 105 kilometers of lines and trails and up to nine cable cars on seven mountains make the region a hotspot for the biking community.

The Kohlmais and Reiterkogel are optimally tailored to the needs of this target group – thus providing the best conditions to continue to meet the criteria for certification as an 'Adventure Mountain' in the future. The cable cars in Saalbach Hinterglemm are delighted that, with their bike offering, they are among only eleven cable car companies in Austria to have been awarded this category.

The seal of quality unites the experts and pioneers of Austrian summer mountain tourism and currently counts 82 members with 100 themed mountains. The seal of quality is an important decision-making criterion for choosing a destination, especially for summer vacationers with no mountain experience. Only companies that meet these quality criteria become members of the Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railways.
