New Training Program For The Cable Car Industry Starts At TAZ Mitterberghütten
11/November/2025
The launch of the new course series at the Mitterberghütten Technical Training Center (TAZ) marked the official launch of an innovative training project in the cable car industry. Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG (CEO Andreas Innerhofer) initiated a new additional qualification in maintenance, specifically focusing on electrical systems, together with external organizational development specialist Claudia Preslmayr, who provided strategic support for the project and helped develop the concept.
It became clear early on that a close partnership with the Mitterberghütten Tourism and Convention Center (TAZ Mitterberghütten) would be crucial for its implementation. The concept was further developed and finalized together. In April 2025, the program was presented to all cable car operators in the state of Salzburg in a presentation – and interest was high.
The one-year pilot project is aimed at existing employees of cable car companies. Theoretical and practical content will be taught in three practice-oriented training blocks at the Mitterberghütten Training Center. Each block will conclude with a practical day at a cable car company. In addition, a day of instruction will be planned in the cable car hall of the Hallein Vocational School, where participants can directly apply what they have learned on functioning systems. A total of five cable car companies are participating in the new training program this year.
For Andreas Innerhofer, CEO of Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG, the cooperative approach is a key success factor: "Cooperation instead of isolated solutions – the entire industry benefits from this."
Mario Palatin, managing director of the TAZ Mitterberghütten, also sees the close collaboration as a model with a signal effect. He emphasizes that the cooperation with the Gastein Bergbahnen and Claudia Preslmayr "worked very well and is a best-practice example that can serve as a model for other industries."
Claudia Preslmayr, strategic organizational developer and co-initiator of the project, emphasizes the importance of collaborative development work: "This pilot project demonstrates how skilled worker development can work in the cable car industry – when companies, training institutions, and development partners work together. This not only creates new expertise, but also genuine employee loyalty and thus a future for an entire industry."
This new training program creates a model that can serve as a role model for other industries – and represents an important contribution to the sustainable development of skilled workers in the region.
