Hans Hall GmbH Combines Innovation With Responsibility In Alpine Terrain

Sustainability is no longer a trend – it has become a prerequisite for future-oriented action. For many cable car operators and ski resorts, it is now a decisive factor for investments and partnerships. But true responsibility is not only evident in energy issues or snow management – often the greatest impact lies in the details. For decades, Hans Hall GmbH, based in Weingarten, Germany, has stood for premium chains and high-quality chain components for demanding applications, from alpine terrain to moorland soil. As a third-generation family business, the company pursues a clear philosophy: "It is a personal concern for us to act responsibly and develop products that last," says Managing Director Hans Hall.

Voluntary participation in the Baden-Württemberg state government's KLIMAfit project underscores that sustainability is not a requirement here, but a lived commitment. Take aluminum, for example. While conventional production emits around 15 kg of CO₂e per kilogram, recycled or so-called low-carbon aluminum emits only around 4 kg of CO₂e per kilogram – a reduction of over 70 percent. Therefore, Hans Hall consistently relies on European supply chains and partners who produce and recycle low-emission aluminum. This way, around 75 percent of the metal remains in the cycle.

Sustainability is also a priority when it comes to plastics: Together with specialist Röchling, Hans Hall uses bio-based materials such as Röchling BioBoom®. These bioplastics are biodegradable depending on the material and are partly made from natural ingredients such as sugar cane and sugar beet.

Hans Hall also thinks about sustainability where it is particularly important:

With specially developed rubber tracks, the company enables the soil-friendly use of sensitive ecosystems such as peatlands – valuable CO₂ stores that remain usable for agriculture. Hans Hall thus supports projects that harvest reeds or cattails for building materials, packaging, or biogas – an example of technical innovation with ecological added value. All products are manufactured using 100% renewable energy. Rubber tracks are made from natural rubber and are produced solvent-free, ensuring maximum performance with a reduced ecological footprint.

The next step in the sustainability strategy: Hans Hall is working on a transformation concept and will report in the future based on the GHG (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) according to the VSME (Voluntary SME) standard – a reporting standard developed specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises. "We document our data extensively because we believe that transparency is the next logical step," explains Hans Hall.

Hans Hall stands for more than technology – the company stands for an industry with attitude.

From material selection to manufacturing, every detail is carefully considered. This results in solutions that are not only reliable and high-performance—but also pioneering a sustainable future.

Hans Hall GmbH – Innovation with responsibility.
